Jazz dance incorporates ballet principles with modern, stylized movement. This class focuses on stretching, across the floor progressions, center work, leaps and turns, and more. In all exercises, students develop muscle strength, flexibility, and further their jazz technique. Jazz & Technique are complementary classes intended to be taken together. Students will perform a jazz dance in the annual show.
This class will focus on one of the most critical components of dance - flexibility! Flexibility training includes stretching exercises to lengthen the muscles, increase range of motion and build strength and control. Students will learn and execute various static and dynamic stretching exercises using body weight and equipment.
Girls- Any color leotard, dance top, jazz shorts, leggings or dance skirt. If wearing tights they must be footless or transitional to allow for safety while dancing barefoot. Jazz shoes may be worn but are not required. Hair must be securely tied up.Boys- Any solid t-shirt and dance pants or shorts
